Selling Scarlett

Selling Scarlett (Love Inc., #1)Selling Scarlett by Ella James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This novel was captivating in a twisted, what-the-hell-is-going-on kind of way!
The blurb gave me no real insight into how much of an enthralling read this would be. In fact I doubted I would empathize with the characters but boy was I wrong!
Elizabeth (Lizzy/Libby) is a straight laced girl with some seriously messed up family problems, surrounded by friends in a similar position; wealthy heirs with issues. Her only flaw seems to be an unhealthy crush - that borders on obsession – on the indomitable Hunter. When Lizzy’s best friend ends up injured in a serious bike crash and his only hope of recovery is if she pays for his care – well then the stakes are high and Lizzy does the only thing she can think of – she sells her virginity to the highest bidder.
Where that would normally be enough conflict for a normal new adult romance, Ella James takes it further and delivers a thrilling mystery fraught with betrayal, fear, secrets and lies.
Raising questions pertaining to sexuality and personal freedom Ms James gets the reader thinking and feeling for these characters and praying for the story to pan out. It was a read that was difficult to put down and one I feel I would certainly be willing to pick up again!
