An unusual read this one. I liked the premise when I read the blurb and thought it might be quite a comical look at love through technology and our obsession with social media/email/online life.
I found it very difficult to get into though. The email conversations were exactly what email conversations are – detached, impersonal and difficult to find an emotional gauge on. It made the reading a little sterile and I felt it was pure determination that drove me to continue. The moments where we looked into Lincoln’s life were a little better but the ‘flashback’ style made it awkward to know when we were and who the characters were.
After a while it picked up and I have to say the end redeemed the whole novel.
