Raven:1 By Kimberly Brockman

A book that has been stuck in my head since i read it...

Title: Raven (Raven Series)Raven

Author: Kimberley Brockman

Star rating: 4.5/5

So what’s it about?

Rayne holds down a job, attends school and fends for herself. Her mother is hardly ever there, her father long since passed and Rayne is coping with the recent loss of her sister in that fire…

The fire she dreams about…the terrifying man she sees in the mirror… The knowledge that her sister died because He wanted her…

And then she meets Chase, a guy who has secrets darker than even her own.

Love it or hate it?

I really liked this book, perhaps even loved it considering that it has popped back into my head every day since reading it. It is one that I am thoroughly looking forward to following up and as soon as the sequel is released it will take precedence over my reading list.

Something about Chase keeps you guessing right up till the end of this. He does the anti-hero thing brilliantly and yet he is there to protect, guide, heal and bargain for her even if it means losing his own freedom. Rayne too is so much more than the reader knows…Just like her we have no idea why she is targeted by the shadow creeper guy… Just what is it about her that makes her so special? Brockman presents characters that keep up guessing which side they are on and builds reader suspense right up to the inevitable and yet breath-catching climax. The end made me want to scream and had me scouring for a sequel that does not yet exist… *patience Hagnut patience…

Read this if…

  •      You like when the murky underworld slips into reality and blurs the boundaries between good and evil.
  •      You like Motorbike-riding-leather-jacket-toting-scrummy-otherworldly-men
  •      You don’t mind waiting for what will inevitably be a corker of a series.

Favourite quote:

“What?” I demanded. He shook his head and ran his fingers through his shiny black hair.

“You. You’re just so cute with all of your little sighs and finger tapping. All your efforts to appear bored when you know you love every minute of this.” He flashed me that sparkling smile and I blushed from head to toe. His eyes were the beautiful penetrating blue again. All seriousness had left his face and he looked just as charming as he was earlier.
